Video Baluns, What are they? How do they work?

Video Baluns are the perfect solution for clients requiring to streamline their cabling and ensure their install looks as neat as possible. But what are the real benefits?

Video Baluns allow for installers to run video down a CAT 5/6/7 cable without needing to use conventional RG59/Shotgun cabling. The CAT cable is a lot more streamlined and is common 1st Fix for developments making it a clear choice for installers and developers, as CCTV becomes a bolt-on after the cable is implemented.

Video Baluns come in pairs and works as RX & TX (Receivers and Transmitters). One sends the camera image from the camera side. The
other, receives the image and translates that into a picture.

In a typical install, a user would use dual pairs for the video balun and dual pairs for the power to minimise interference but
also to ensure the install looks neat. (Subject to Appendix 1).

The RJ45 balun is a new contender. RJ45 Baluns go one step further and instead of using separate DC plugs to run power separately

using the twisted pairs, Its requires the user to merely crimp RJ45 plugs to the CAT cable turning it into an ethernet cable and then plugging it into the RJ45 Balun where a DC and a BNC plug lead comes out. A true plug and play solution.
