What is Mainstream and Substream?

You may have come across Mainstream and Substream during your use of APro products whether its the App or even the Fusion or Salus itself.

With our technology evolving and APro's constant push in R&D, it means higher resolutions are available in the market which was previously unheard of.

With higher resolutions, come more bandwidth and all this at the cost of your broadband or mobile network provider.

So, to combat this we offer two stream methods, Mainstream and Substream.

Mainstream is the higher quality stream coming from your recorder, its clearer, HD and generally more visually pleasing.

Substream is the lower quality stream coming from your recorder, its less clear, not HD and is tailored towards allowing the users to view, but not drain their network usage.

CCTV is a mainstream solution for monitoring your home and business and can result in heavy usage of the app and this can mean severe consumption of data. This is the clear reason why we provide substream as an alternate solution.

The Mainstream and Substream itself is configurable in the DVR settings to cater towards your needs if you require a more bespoke stream solution.
